Dolný Kubín
The partnership between Kamianets-Podilskyi and Dolný Kubín is one of the areas of international cooperation of the Kamianets-Podilskyi community. According to official materials from the City Council, the two cities have a long-standing history of friendship and cooperation. During the visit of the Kamianets-Podilskyi delegation to Dolný Kubín in December 2023, it was noted that 2024 would mark 20 years since the beginning of friendship and cooperation between the two cities, indicating that the partnership was established in 2004.
Development of the Partnership
Over the years, cooperation between the two cities has developed through cultural contacts, mutual visits, and the exchange of experience. One example was the visit of a Kamianets-Podilskyi delegation to Dolný Kubín in December 2023 as part of a cultural mission featuring the Ukrainian “Shchedryk”.
During the visit, a concert by the Ukrainian “Zhuravlyk” choir and an exhibition of works by Kamianets-Podilskyi artists and craftspeople were held, providing an opportunity to present Ukrainian culture to the residents of the Slovak city. Representatives of the two communities also discussed further cooperation in the areas of tourism, culture, and children’s recreation and health activities.
A New Stage of the Partnership in 2025
On 19–20 September 2025, a delegation from the Kamianets-Podilskyi City Council visited Dolný Kubín on the occasion of the city’s Days celebrations. The visit included official meetings, an exchange of gifts, and the symbolic watering of the “Tree of Global Partnerships.”
Following the meetings, the two sides agreed to organize a football tournament for young athletes from Kamianets-Podilskyi in Dolný Kubín. They also discussed the possibility of signing bilateral agreements and identified prospective joint projects in the fields of culture, education, and innovative development.
Today, Dolný Kubín remains an official partner city of Kamianets-Podilskyi. The partnership is gradually expanding from traditional cultural contacts to youth and sports cooperation, educational initiatives, tourism, and joint projects. In 2024, Kamianets-Podilskyi also addressed Dolný Kubín as a partner city, calling for its support for Ukraine’s Victory Plan.
