Cihanbeyli
The partnership between Kamianets-Podilskyi and Cihanbeyli is one of the areas of international cooperation of the Kamianets-Podilskyi community. Cihanbeyli is officially listed among the partner cities of Kamianets-Podilskyi, while the official website of the Cihanbeyli Municipality also confirms the establishment of sister-city relations with Kamianets-Podilskyi.
Establishment of the Partnership
The first official step towards establishing sister-city relations was taken on 3 February 2021, when the Cihanbeyli Municipal Council adopted Decision No. 2021/13 on establishing sister-city relations with the Municipality of Kamianets-Podilskyi.
The decision stated that cooperation was to encompass social and cultural ties, artistic and sporting events, tourism and promotion, the development of joint projects, as well as technical and administrative cooperation.
Official Signing of the Agreement
The next important stage was the formal signing of the partnership agreement. In 2023, a cooperation agreement was officially signed between Kamianets-Podilskyi and the Municipality of Cihanbeyli. This was reported by the Kamianets-Podilskyi City Council.
Key Areas of Cooperation
From the outset, the partnership envisaged a broad range of areas of cooperation. According to the decision of the Cihanbeyli Municipal Council, these included culture, the arts, sports, tourism, city promotion, joint projects, as well as technical and administrative cooperation.
During the formalization of the partnership in 2023, particular attention was also paid to the development of industrial parks and the tourism sector. This demonstrates that the partnership is focused not only on cultural ties but also on practical areas of local and economic development.
The Partnership in the Modern Period
The partnership between Kamianets-Podilskyi and Cihanbeyli continues to this day. Cihanbeyli is included in the official list of Kamianets-Podilskyi’s partner cities published by the City Council, while the official website of the Turkish municipality continues to contain the decision establishing sister-city relations with Kamianets-Podilskyi.
In October 2024, the Kamianets-Podilskyi City Council addressed its partner cities, including Cihanbeyli, calling on them to support Ukraine’s Victory Plan and appeal to the national governments of their respective countries to support it. This demonstrates the continued partnership dialogue and mutual engagement between the two municipalities.
The partnership between Kamianets-Podilskyi and Cihanbeyli is relatively recent but has a clearly established official foundation. It was initiated by a decision of the Cihanbeyli Municipal Council in 2021, and in 2023 the two sides officially signed a partnership agreement. The cooperation covers cultural, sporting, tourism, economic and administrative areas, and also provides for the implementation of joint projects.
