Edineț
The partnership between Kamianets-Podilskyi and Edineț (Republic of Moldova) has a long history. The Cooperation Agreement between the two cities was concluded on 17 May 2003 and is of unlimited duration.
Intermunicipal Cooperation and Exchange of Experience
One of the important areas of cooperation is the exchange of experience between local self-government bodies and the development of partnership contacts. This area has gained particular importance in recent years, as both communities have begun to make more active use of the partnership to jointly explore development opportunities.
In November 2025, Vadym Mendogralo, Deputy Mayor of Kamianets-Podilskyi, visited the city of Edineț. During the visit, the parties discussed deepening partnership relations, implementing joint projects, and exchanging experience. Kamianets-Podilskyi and Edineț were presented as cities of two countries that are candidates for membership in the European Union, creating additional opportunities for cooperation.
Joint European Projects
An important modern area of the partnership is joint efforts to attract European resources. During the meeting in Edineț, representatives of the two communities discussed the possibility of participating in Interreg Europe, Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, and EU4Culture programmes.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to establish a joint working group to prepare grant applications. This approach makes it possible to move from traditional intermunicipal dialogue towards the practical preparation of joint projects.
Development of Local Self-Government
During the visit, representatives of Kamianets-Podilskyi familiarized themselves with the work of local institutions and projects implemented in Edineț with the support of the European Union. In particular, the delegation visited the Industrial Park, local lyceums, and the Edineț City Museum.
Particular attention was paid to community development practices and opportunities to use European programmes to implement local initiatives.
The partnership between Kamianets-Podilskyi and Edineț contributes to maintaining friendly contacts and developing cooperation between the two communities. The established ties provide a foundation for further strengthening partnership relations, mutual exchange, and the implementation of new joint initiatives.
