Radovish

The partnership between Kamianets-Podilskyi and Radovish is an important area of the community’s international cooperation. Radovish is officially listed among Kamianets-Podilskyi’s partner cities. At the same time, relations between the two communities have a longer history, and in 2024 they gained new momentum following a prolonged period without direct communication.

Renewal of the Partnership Dialogue

An important milestone in the development of relations was the visit of representatives of the Kamianets-Podilskyi City Council to Radovish in October 2024 the “New Wave of Cooperation” project, implemented by the Network of Associations of Local Authorities of South-East Europe (NALAS) with the support of the U-LEAD with Europe programme. This was the first meeting between representatives of the two communities after a prolonged break.

During the visit, the Ukrainian delegation took part in a series of working meetings and study activities. Particular attention was paid to the exchange of experience in local government, improving the provision of public services, and exploring practices for implementing projects funded by the European Union.

Exchange of Experience in Local Government

One of the key areas of cooperation is the professional exchange of experience between representatives of local authorities. During the meetings in Radovish, the two sides discussed approaches to municipal management, the provision of public services, and the implementation of local initiatives.
For Kamianets-Podilskyi, Radovish’s experience in using international and European programmes to implement development projects is of particular interest. Representatives of the Ukrainian community familiarized themselves with practices that could be adapted to the needs of the Kamianets-Podilskyi community.

Cooperation in Attracting International Funding

Particular attention during the renewal of the partnership dialogue was given to jointly exploring opportunities for international funding. Representatives of the two communities discussed prospects for developing joint initiatives that could receive support from international donors and European programmes.

This form of cooperation is of practical importance, as it enables the communities not only to exchange experience but also to work together on projects in the socio-economic sphere.

Economic and Trade Cooperation

During the visit to Radovish, a meeting was held with a representative of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in North Macedonia. The parties discussed opportunities for expanding trade relations and creating conditions for the export of Ukrainian products to North Macedonia.

This area of cooperation may provide a basis for further developing contacts between entrepreneurs and business representatives from the two countries, as well as facilitating access for local producers to new international markets.

Regional Development and Exchange of Best Practices

An important part of the visit programme was a visit to the Regional Development Centre of the South-Eastern Region. Representatives of Kamianets-Podilskyi learned about the Centre’s activities and its approaches to supporting regional development.

The parties discussed the potential application of similar approaches in Kamianets-Podilskyi, particularly in supporting local initiatives and attracting additional resources for the development of the community.

Cooperation between Kamianets-Podilskyi and Radovish plays an important role in developing international relations and strengthening partnership between the two communities.

Today, the partnership focuses on exchanging experience, developing inter-municipal contacts, implementing joint initiatives, and exploring new opportunities for cooperation. Further development of these relations will contribute to strengthening friendly ties between the communities and expanding Kamianets-Podilskyi’s international partnerships.
